In 1835 this name was offered repeatedly and is confirmed. In the end of 19-th century, in connection with anniversary of Russian poet Pushkin, it have renamed in Pushkinskaya.

Nikolaev Zoo was founded by Nikolaev city mayor Leontovich. As he himself wrote in the report to the Nikolaev District Executive Committee in 1923, the zoo named then Aquarium, was founded on 26 April 1901.
Before the October revolution in Russia Aquarium was the mayor’s private collection, and it was situated in his detached house.
In 1925 zoological department was opened in Aquarium and it was renamed into Aquarium Zoo. Bisons, camels, yaks, deer, ostriches were brought from Askania Nova. Bears, wolves, foxes, monkeys were also purchased for the zoo.

Nikolaev has five entries into the city. Perhaps the most spectacular entry is from Odessa. A view from the across the Southern Bug offers a wide coast of white houses with terraces.
The entry from Krivoy Rog fascinates by the cherry orchards on the left and the field freeway on the right.
The entry from Kiev represents a wide paved highway with multi-row traffic. Kiev highway crosses the line of the multi-kilometer peninsula formed by the left-hand bend Ingul bizarre, and the right-wide mouths spill of the Ingul and the Southern Bug.
Highway smoothly enters into the beautiful bridge over the river Ingul which in turn opens up the northern gate of the city.
